In Koi Hacienda we speak …

The reason I write this article is because in the last two months we have been contacted by  clients who did not speak very well Spanish. They were really happy to be able to speak their language and we could not have helped them so directly and easily if we did not speak their language.

As Thierry and I “grew up” with these languages, we are not aware of this knowledge. For us it is absolutely normal to change continuously between one language and the other.

For this reason we had never pointed out on our website that we can attend customers in several languages.

But as it is crucial for some people, her some more information about us:

Thierry belga

Thierry was born in Belgium. One of the countries forming the Benelux (Belgium + Netherlands + Luxembourg) in which there are THREE official languages: French, Dutch and German. Although he grew up in a Dutch-speaking region, his parents chose the early years of his education French. Later in school he had to learn Dutch. Although he learned German at school, he never liked this language. And what we do not like, we prefer not to do it. Another language in the school was English, which was much more interesting for him since he saw the international utility of this language.

Upon arriving in Spain, Thierry learned Spanish rather in a practical way: day-to-day business instead of going to an academy for foreigners.

In short: Thierry speaks French, Dutch, English and Spanish.

hablamos

Eli was born in Bolivia and her native language is Spanish. Although she has been in Spain for many years, she still dominates the native language Quechua. But her Latin American vocabulary has adapted to the Andalusian 😉

In short: Eli speaks Spanish and Quechua.

bandera de Alemania

I, Thekla, I was born in Germany. I always say that the only advantage of having this nationality is that I do not have to learn this language. And I totally agree with what the Spaniards tell me: German is a train of consonants 😉

At age 14 I came to Spain to attend secondary school, and thus I learned Spanish.

Instead of going to university, I went back to Germany and started training in hospitality and tourism. I think that was the birth of my European nationality since I met many people from other countries and other cultures that aroused my passion to explore and travel.

For me, French is the most beautiful language in the world. My French friends laugh when I tell them the reason: When someone says “Bonjour” it’s like giving you a kiss. Nothing better than learning a language in the country itself, so I did several internships in France and even studied during my university training a quarter in the Haute École de Commerce in Grenoble.

English was always considered as a “must” but I never have had a real connection with this language. Over time I have met people who speak a clean and sophisticated English which made me appreciate this language, too.

In short: Thekla speaks German, Spanish, French and English.

As Thierry and I “grew up” with these languages, we are not aware of this knowledge. For us it is absolutely normal to change continuously between one language and the other.

For this reason we had never emphasized our website that we can serve customers in several languages.

So …
